Classical and jazz musician Bachelor's degree at UQAM in Music Education, 1978 Dubeau excels in soprano and tenor saxophone, soprano clarinet, bass clarinet and flute.

In 1979 he studies jazz with trumpeter Charles Ellison for one year. After various explorations in African, Latino, and rock music, he founds the Noar sur Blanc quartuor featuring members Denis Frechette and James Gelfand.

The ensemble participates most notably in two Montreal International Jazz Festival competitions.

From 1980 to 1987 Dubeau is a saxophonist with Guy Nadon, Oliver Jones, Bernard Primeau, Jacques Masson, Guy Thouin, and Luc Beaugrand in World Music jazz ensembles, such as: Ta legal (Brazil), Mascara (Cuba), and El Kady (Guinea-Bissau).

In 1987 he begins to learn shakuhachi (Japanese flute) with Yoshio Masumoto.

In 2000 Dubeau receives a scholarship from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec to study Jin Nyodo style in New York City with shakuhachi master Ronnie Nyogetsu Seldin.

In January 2004 he attends a Master's Irish flute class with American multi-instrumentalist, Grey Larsen.

In addition to shakuhachi, Dubeau plays shinobue, nay, duduk, di-dze, qena, Bulgarian kaval, Irish flutes and wind instruments from many parts of the world.

He is currently studying with Yoshio Kurahashi and Alcvin Takegawa Ramos.

Music composed by Anthony Rozankovic.

    In a North American premier performance for the Montreal High Lights Festival Michel Dubeau is invited by Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal to play the Irish whistle and the shakuhachi at Salle Wilfrid Pelletier of Place Des Arts, February 23, 2004, in the Lord of the Rings symphony, composed and conducted by Howard Shore.

    The concert is performed again in Ottawa at the National Arts Centre with the NAC Orchestra July 23 and 24, 2004.

    In May 2005, Dubeau performs solo and accompanies a wide variety of artists for Saskatchewan's Centennial celebrations in Saskatoon. This exceptional performance, featuring Hart Rouge and the Centennial Symphony Orchestra, is presented before her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and broadcast on CBC television. Dubeau plays an eclectic array of instruments for the show, including the Scottish smallpipe, Irish tin whistle, low whistle, shakuhachi, and the nagaswaram. Music composed by Anthony Rozankovic
